The 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport marked the final production year of the C4 generation. General Motors built 1,000 examples, comprising 810 coupes and 190 convertibles. Its Admiral Blue paint, Arctic White center stripe and red marks above the left front fender recalled the original 1963 Grand Sport racers. The special edition used Chevrolet's LT4 5.7-liter V8. Chevrolet also gave the car chassis upgrades associated with the ZR1. The result was a distinct farewell edition with both mechanical changes and a historically based racing livery.
